Verse

“ The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. ”— Proverbs 15:3 KJV

Life Application

I’ve heard it said that “God can’t look on sin”, but if that was true then this verse would be a lie. The Bible plainly tells us that God cannot lie; therefore, we would be denying the truth of God’s word to think that God does not see sin. We may be able to hide the things we do, feel or think from everyone around us, but God sees and knows all. Think about most crimes, they are committed in secret so the perpetrator can avoid being caught. What if we all realized that God truly was watching and that he ultimately will judge us according to our actions and thoughts; I wonder how much less sin and evil would be going on in the world today. If I start to think that I am hiding my secret sins from God it will only result in self-deception. If I am not honest with myself I will never see the need of repenting of my sins and getting my heart right with God. The Bible says that God’s eyes are in EVERY place, able to see the good and bad, the sooner we all realize the truth of this verse, the sooner we can begin to head down the road of repentance and acceptable service to God.

Verse

“ But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. ”— Matthew 6:33 KJV

Life Application

Ever wonder what the secret to success is? How about the key to peace and happiness? The Bible tells us that if we seek God first and make him the priority in our lives, ALL of these things will be given to us. The context of this scripture is that God can and will take care of all of our needs, but we must first put him first in our lives. Success is not based on wealth; it is a state of life we enjoy when we are right with God. Just because a person may have millions of dollars, doesn’t mean they are right with God, nor if a person is living in poverty does it mean that they are not right with God. True wealth, success, peace and happiness are entirely based on a right relationship with God. Wealth and success in life can end in a moment - businesses go bankrupt, stock markets crash, economies fail, but wealth and success that is based in the Lord will never fail or cease as long as each individual puts the Lord first in their life. God will take of your physical needs, but he must be a priority in taking care of your spiritual needs first.

Verse

“ Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. ”— I Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV

Life Application

Do you realize that the reason salvation is possible is because Jesus fulfilled everything necessary to be the Messiah that the Old Testament prophesied of? Paul told the church in Corinth that the gospel is in fact what allowed them to be saved. I often tell my students that there is a difference in what the gospel means and what it is. What it means is “Good News”, and realizing the gift of salvation that Jesus offers truly is good news to every lost person. The definition of what the gospel is has been recorded here in this passage, it is the fact that Jesus died, was buried and rose again the third day according to the scriptures so that we might have the opportunity of eternal life through salvation. In Romans 1:16 the Bible tells us that the gospel “is the power of God unto salvation”, if Jesus didn’t fulfill the required payment for salvation according to the scriptures, there wouldn’t be good news for any of us; we would all be doomed to Hell because of our rejection and rebellion to God with no escape possible. The good news is that salvation is available to all, the bad news is that many will still reject Jesus’ free offer of salvation – what will you do?
